Smallbore 22 Benchrest Junior Rifle

The indoor small-bore rifle season runs every Friday evening from November to March. Matches are shot from the prone and offhand positions -- no kneeling! 10 shots prone slow fire, 13 minutes timed, with unlimited sighting shots. 20 shots standing (offhand), 28 minutes timed, also unlimited sighting shots.

New shooters are welcome! The league we're in uses a handicap system, so once a new shooter establishes a handicap, he or she can contribute to the team as much as a seasoned shooter. So if you have a .22 smallbore rifle, please consider joining us on Friday nights. Juniors are welcome, too, if they've taken the basic rifle training course or have equivalent experience. The matches start at 7:30pm; people usually arrive at 6:30pm or before to set up the range and start warming up. That's a good time to catch one of the regulars to get some advice or ask questions. Equipment is available for new shooters to borrow, but be sure to bring your own ammunition.

The matches rotate between WSA, Mass Rifle Association in Woburn, and Reading Rifle and Revolver. However, at least some of us are always “home” at WSA Friday evenings to accommodate the junior shooters or those who wish to shoot at our home range.
